Out and About in Bangkok

We enjoyed staying in a business/residential neighborhood in Bangkok as it was pretty quiet but was only a two minute walk to the train which took us wherever we wanted. Just across the street were a couple of local restaurants along with street vendors. We walked around the neighborhood and thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

This restaurant was across the street and was George’s favorite place to get a Green Papaya Salad. It was always busy!

You can see the food stalls - some temporary and moved every day and some permanent. This is taken from the stairs to the train across the street from where we stayed. You can also see one of the four 7 Elevens that were within a 5 minute walk of our place. They are everywhere!

This is inside Phra Ubosot which is the main hall used for Buddhist rituals. They were breaking down the tables and chairs from a ceremony that had recently been completed. This hall was built by King Rama I and then enlarged by Rama III.

There are so many Buddha statues. This one reminds me of a small one that my mom had and it made me smile.

On the street outside of the temple I saw this man who was feeding and caring for his cat who is wearing pearls and a lovely dress.

This is the boat we caught on the way back because we missed seeing where to catch the ferry. This was ok, but it sat really low in the water until the first or second stop. It was a bit cheaper, but we preferred the ferry.

This is Wat Arun - we didn’t visit here, but could see it from the river. It is recommended that you visit here at sunset to see the beautiful tile work reflecting the sun.
